That's Just The Nature of Things

First I’d like to thank my wife for asking me to post today. It’s a real honor and a privilege to be before you all.

Today in the Chicago area we are experiencing a major snow storm. This was right on the heels of several beautiful weather days (not including the one recent evening of icy roads.) I’m sure many people will grumble and complain, but look, it is February. It is still winter, and in winter. That’s the nature of things. No matter how many good days there are a winter storm is gonna come during winter.

It’s the same way with our lives. Once you enter into a season of testing there’s going to be tests. That’s just the nature of things. Our jobs (or lack of), our business, our classrooms, our spouses, our children, our landlords, our bosses, our employees, our cable company, our telephone company, our cars, our homes, our churches, our pastors, our followers, our neighbors. You name it. All may become part of a test during a season of testing. That’s just the nature of things.

Many folks (I originally wrote Dorothy and I, but we don’t want leave out anyone else that’s going through) are currently going through a season of testing where unplanned and unbelievable things continue to occur. But because God is faithful, we can be assured that these things are designed to bring about in our lives a transformation from what we were to what we shall be. Look at these scriptures

1 John 3:2 Beloved , now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that , when he shall appear we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself even as he is pure.

I Peter 1:12 says, “ Beloved think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you as though some strange things happened unto you, but rejoice in as much as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Also in James 1 : 2 My brethren count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations, knowing this that the trying of your faith worketh patience, but let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

I hope to encourage you with the following

1 John 3:2 Beloved , now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that , when he shall appear we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself even as he is pure. (That’s no typo, I really did include this twice).

Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

So now, I’m gonna look out the window and watch the snowfall. Shovel some snow. Ad get on with life. That’s just the nature of things.
