His Covenant is Eternal!
Dedicated to MY Friend, Prophetess Arlette Willis ~ Our friendship is a covenant made by the Father himself. Congratulations on your Album Debut ~ May you continue to blossom and release the fresh aroma of the Spirit of the Lord!! I love you more than words can say...Happy Birthday! Your forever Friend
When I awoke this morning my heart was very heavy. I found myself struggling with insecurities and inefficiencies in reaching the “mark” (Philippians 3:14). It was so heavy that I didn’t want to even to approach the Father in prayer. I felt like the prophet Isaiah when He said, “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips...” (Isaiah 6:5). The Lord was not unaware of my feelings, nor is He unaware yours. He knows that we all have moments such as this. After all He is a Holy God.
However, we have to be careful that we don’t fall trick to the enemy in those times: his goal is keep you from the presence of the Lord. Why? Because He knows that there is liberty in the presence of the Lord and that the Father’s love will bring revelation and healing: “Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty” (II Corinthians 3:17). So as much as I wanted to hide myself in busy work and shy away from Him, I knew I needed to do just the opposite, to press into His presence.
I did what I do every morning. I got my bible, my journal, a cup of coffee, and my worship music. As I began to sing and worship the Holy Spirit that spirit of heaviness began to leave and the Holy Spirit began to speak. It’s good to be obedient. The Lord began to press on my heart a scripture that He had given me yesterday morning: Jeremiah 33. I had been praying for my two best friends: both of which are in places in their lives where they are being catapulted into the promises of God. My girlfriend that lives in Arizona debut her long awaited Album on yesterday night. And my other girlfriend that lives in Kentucky is preparing for the grand opening of her second store and the launching of her distribution center. There are even things in the works for myself. Although the Lord gave quite a few insights into what He was doing, and is going to do, in our lives, the part that rang in my spirit this morning was verses 19-22, which spoke of the covenant God made with David and how that it could not be broken.
"God says, 'If my covenant with day and my covenant with night ever fell apart so that day and night became haphazard and you never knew which was coming and when, then and only then would my covenant with my servant David fall apart and his descendants no longer rule. The same goes for the Levitical priests who serve me. Just as you can't number the stars in the sky nor measure the sand on the seashore, neither will you be able to account for the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who serve me.'" (Jeremiah 33:19-22 TM)
The Lord began to remind me of His covenant with me. The Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance that His covenant is unbreakable. The only way that I could be separated from Him is if I chose to walk away. The word of God says that, “…It is Christ that died….who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? […] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 34-39 KJV)
Think about that, there is NOTHING that can separate you from His love. This is HIS promise to you and me. And on top of that, Jesus, himself, intercedes on our behalf. He is our mediator: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (I Timothy 2:5).What an awesome God we serve!
Even as I was meditating on the impenetrable covenant the Holy Spirit reminded me of the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15. Here the young son chooses to leave his father’s house, chooses to come from under his covering, chooses to go at it alone. The scripture says he went and wasted all of his inheritance until he was at a place of desolation and desperation. It didn’t help that there was also a famine in the land. It was not easy for him to find that which would replenish him and his way of living. He ends up with a job taking care of pigs. He was so desperate that, according to the bible, he desired to eat the pig’s feed. It’s at this point that he “came to himself” (Luke 15:17 KJV). In other words, he got what I call a reality check. It’s at this point that he realizes what he chose to walk away from a good thing: His father’s servants were living better than him. He realized how blessed he was to be in his father’s house.
The same is true for us. There are times when we choose to turn away from the covenant that the Father has put before. We choose to walk away from Him through disobedience: Disobedience of His word and His counsel by the Holy Spirit. We choose to make stupid choices that only lead to desolation and desperation, with no way of replenishment: there is still a famine in the land. What a horrible to place to be: hungry with no sense of relief. I am so thankful that the pig pen was not the end of this story. The bible says that the prodigal decided, chose, to go back home to his father. He chose to turn (repent) from his wasteful ways of living and return to his father’s house.
One would think that his homecoming would be anything but joyful. Yet, the Lord shows us a beautiful parallel of His covenant and unconditional love for us through the story of the prodigal.
When the Prodigal returned home, the bible says, his father was waiting with open arms, killed the fatted cow for him, and celebrating his son’s homecoming. It didn’t matter where he had been, what he had done, or why he had chosen to come home. The father was only glad that his son had returned.
Isn’t that just like our heavenly Father? When we get off track, whether small or big, the Father is always ready with opens arms to forgive us and receive us back to Him. That’s TRUE covenant. That’s TRUE love. The Father never wavers in His love for us: It never dissipates. His blood covenant, through Jesus Christ, still covers us…no matter what. Even when we choose to walk away from Him He NEVER chooses to walk away from us. Hallelujah! I just LOVE the Lord…
I pray that you press into His presence today. I pray that the Holy Spirit brings to your remembrance the covenant that you have with the Father. I pray that as you meditate on that covenant that you realize how much you are loved by Him. Whether you dealing with marriage issues, family issues, financial issues, know you can always run to your Father. He is always waiting with open arms to receive you, comfort you, and even celebrate over you.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this too. If I break it down I will start to cry. Just know that It is wonderful to know that God know my thought and If I chose not to walk away he will stay with.
